Do we breed any other breeds?
A: We are solely focused on breeding only the most incredible Bernedoodle puppies for families seeking an incomparable family companion, service companion, or emotional support companion. Due to our strong belief in our Bernedoodle puppies being unmatched in temperament and health we can’t help be devoted to just this breed!
Do we do temperament testing?
A: Temperament is just as important to us as health, and we are very intentional about ensuring our puppies have the best possible start. A puppy’s temperament is largely influenced by their parents’ inherent traits, which is why we carefully select and pair only those with the qualities that we feel make for an ideal family companion.
Beyond genetics, early family socialization plays a crucial role in shaping a puppy’s personality. From day one, we provide a nurturing environment that fosters confidence, adaptability, and a loving disposition. Whether you choose a boy or girl, mini or standard, you truly can’t go wrong!
Are we a kennel?
A: We are not a kennel, and our furbabies are not a job that we clock out from to go home. We have renovated our home to properly raise newborn puppies, and to comfortably live with our own furbabies. Our furbabies and their puppies are integrated into our everyday life.
Boy vs Girl temperament?
A: As mentioned previously, the temperament of a furbaby is largely influenced by their parents inherent traits. In order to create a consistent temperament type we are strategic in selecting Males and Females to join our program/family that have similar personality types. Their babies, whether boys or girls, will inherit the same demeanor and mannerisms as their Mom and Dad. These babies will all be devoted to their family, highly affectionate, intelligent, and goofy.
Do we allow visitation for inquiring families?
A: Families are welcome to come to our home to pick up their new furbaby when they are of age and have received their due vaccinations.
Just like newborn babies, puppies experience very low immunity in their first few months of life. My home is a safe place for puppies to build their strength. Out of respect for their forever families, and to protect the longevity of our program, we do not allow in home visitation with our young unvaccinated babies as the health of our little ones is our top priority. Unvaccinated puppies are susceptible to a number of harmful viruses, this includes parvo and canine distemper and respiratory illnesses. Parvo and distemper alone are life threatening and all too common. These viruses are virtually impossible to eliminate once it finds a fitting host. With our furbabies and their eager families in mind it is my priority to reduce any risks.
There are certainly breeding programs that operate as stores, allowing early visitation with inquiring families. We are not a kennel or a store, our babies are raised in our home. It is based on the heartbreaking stories of families who have brought home sick puppies from such situations that have influenced my decision to protect our puppies, our families hearts, and the integrity of our program. As our program as grown in popularity it has become necessary for us to implement these policies.
There’s an important component to healthy puppy development that many people don’t realize: the mother’s comfort and stress level during nursing. Our moms are incredibly personable and outgoing, but when they have newborns, their instincts shift. They naturally become protective and prefer not to have unfamiliar people around their babies, this is a normal hormonal response. When a mother dog experiences stress, her body releases cortisol, which can pass into her milk and directly affect the puppies’ developing immune systems. Keeping our moms calm, comfortable, and undisturbed ensures their milk supports strong, healthy puppies from the very start.
I am incredibly transparent throughout our families journeys toward their new addition. My adorable in-depth weekly puppy videos, weekly individual photoshoots, email updates, optional facetime calls, and ongoing activity on social media are what help our families to select their new addition, and allow them to continue being apart of their furbaby’s journey with me prior to introduction day.
what generations do we breed?
We really value health, body structure, and predictability, I exclusively work with F1 and F1b Bernedoodles. These generations (when done correctly) consistently offer the best combination of traits; strong hybrid vigor, balanced temperaments, and more reliable coat types, and body type. These are the generations that are notoriously healthiest in any doodle.
F1s (a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog crossed with a purebred Poodle) and F1bs (an F1 crossed back to a Poodle) are where we find that true blend of intelligence, loyalty, and health resilience. You get the happy go lucky, affectionate, goofy demeanor of the Bernese temperament with the intelligent, thoughtful, witty and hypoallergenic traits of the Poodle—we can have the perfect companion by breeding intentionally, without the genetic muddiness that starts to show up in F2s and beyond with various different lineages coming together.
Multigen Bernedoodles, while popular in some circles, simply don’t offer the same consistency. Once you start breeding doodle to doodle repeatedly, you lose the robust character and health that comes with the potency of the original pure bred genetics. Most multigenerational lines struggle with coat issues, unpredictable sizes, and unpredictable temperament traits.
Our focus will always be on breeding dogs with purpose, clarity, and integrity. For us, that means sticking to what works best: F1s and F1bs.
SELECTING YOUR FURBABY & WEEKLY UPDATES:
Beginning at 1 week of age, we share weekly individual photoshoots and videos of each of our newborn furbabies on our Available Puppies page. Our families eagerly look forward to these weekly updates as they watch their puppies grow and develop.
Puppy selection begins at 5 weeks of age, following each puppy’s 5-week photoshoot, in-depth individual video, and a full litter group video posted to their litter page. These detailed updates allow families to make a thoughtful and informed decision when there selection period comes. Once a family selects their forever furbaby, they can continue to look forward to weekly updates posted to our website until their puppy is ready to be united with their forever family. These updates not only assist with puppy selection but also allow families to be involved in their puppy’s earliest and most formative weeks of life.
When selecting a puppy from our program, it is important to understand that a puppy’s personality is shaped by several key factors:
• the highly sought-after inherent traits of their parents
• early socialization during the first weeks and months of life
• ongoing training throughout their lifetime
• daily life experiences with us
• and the environment provided by their forever family after going home
Temperament is of the utmost importance to us. We carefully pair parents with consistent, desirable temperaments to produce puppies with predictable personality traits that remain present throughout their lives. We firmly believe it is essential to choose a breeder who prioritizes both health and temperament.
Like their parents, families can expect our puppies to be wonderfully loving, devoted, intuitive, clever, affectionate, intelligent, and playful family companions. We do not breed dogs who do not possess these qualities. Beyond genetics, we work tirelessly to strengthen and enhance these traits through early socialization, relationship-based handling, and the foundation of early training. We focus heavily on nurturing the human-to-furbaby bond from the very beginning.
We are confident that each of our furbabies will grow into a phenomenal, one-of-a-kind, loving companion for their forever family.
In addition to the weekly photos and videos posted on our website, fun updates can also be found on our Doodles-n-Company Instagram and Facebook pages as our litters grow. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest and YouTube!
For communication, calls are absolutely welcome. However email and text allow for recorded detailed conversations throughout your puppy’s time with us and provide a helpful record that both parties can reference back on.
About our program:
My bernedoodle furbabies make wonderful additions to all loving families, including those with young children, and those with emotional or physical disabilities. I am a solely focused Bernedoodle breeder. My priority is pairing parents that will create well balanced, loving family companions. Just like our own furbabies. My husband and I share our home with our puppies. From the day they are born they are able to be in the presence of humans, and our daily activities. I believe this is why our puppies are so easily transitioned into the routines and day to day lives of their new forever families. Due to their mellow, easygoing nature, and upbringing around a family my Bernedoodles are people pleasers, which means they are very easily trained, and incredibly loyal to their humans. They are affectionate, intelligent, attentive, and sensitive to moods, These inherent traits are the makings of a wonderful therapy companion, service companion, or an incomparable family member. I work hard to help mold, and bring out the incredible inherent traits of each of my babies. I ensure that each furbaby is able to build a strong relationship with us before they go home. This is a crucial step in a furbabies early on development. My furbabies already have a clear love and understanding of the human-furbaby relationship when they finally get to meet their forever family! This will help the furbaby to quickly form a more profound bond with their new family. My Bernedoodle babies are my pride and joy- not only do I want their new families to be utterly in love, I also want the furbabies to be equipped to enjoy their life, and their new family, to the fullest extent and this starts with me! Bernedoodles are family members with strong attachments to human beings, and other furry family members. They are meant to live among their people. They are not meant to be living outside of the home, or left alone continuously for long periods of time.
The parents of our puppies are health tested and cleared for degenerative traits and diseases. Our puppies are put on a worming regimen, visit our veterinarian for a health examination, and receive their due vaccinations and preventatives before going home to their forever families. Each of my families will receive a signed copy of my terms and health guarantee contract, as well as their puppy’s health records to date.
Early training
In seeking the highest standards developmentally and behaviorally, we practice sound desensitization to ensure that our puppy’s are not fearful or anxious later on in life. We also practice early neurological stimulation with each of our puppies. to help improve the following:
• Cardio vascular performance.
• Higher tolerance to anxiety and stress.
• Stronger resistance to diseases
.
In addition to ENS, we focus on Early Scent Introduction. This practice begins when the puppies are 3 days old, until they are 16 days old. ESI has many benefits such as; boosting a furbabies interest in scents, ability to detect scents, and ability to follow scents This is most beneficial for owners who plan on having their furbaby trained to detect allergens.
We work with our pups to grow their level of trust through touch and positive interactions. We focus on increasing their comfort with regular grooming, such as nail clipping, bathing and brushing.
We also begin practice of basic commands such as ‘sit’ ‘come’ and ‘stay’ and will use their selected call names.
We use a pine pellet litter tray for potty training the puppies beginning at 3 weeks old. This helps the puppies learn the difference between a 'potty spot' and a living area. While our puppies are very bright and catch on quickly to these basic commands, it is imperative that their families continue training, helping their puppy to mature into a well behaved member of the family. :)
DEPOSIT PAYMENT:
A nonrefundable deposit of $500 is required to reserve a position on any wait list. Deposits go towards the total price.
A waitlist position/available furbaby will not be held until after a deposit is received. Deposits are nonrefundable-If a waitlisted family does not see their ideal furbaby when it comes time for puppy selection, or the timing becomes inconvenient, they may pass and wait for a future litter. However, once a furbaby is officially selected(reserved) deposits are no longer transferable. A family reserving a waitlist position, or an available puppy, has a direct impact on how those inquiring choose to move forward with us. With that being said, deposits are nonrefundable to avoid having families inconvenience me and other inquiring families.
I do my very best to estimate the timing of our litters. However, heats and births do not always happen at the times in which they are predicted. I can only offer my best estimates. Anticipated litter arrivals are subject to change and may require a bit of flexibility in my waitlisted families timeline. I do not waitlist families based off of preferred coat colors, or genders.
Deposits can be placed via Venmo, Cash App, Zelle or PayPal. Please note that PayPal requires an additional 3.5% fee that would need to be added to your payment. Please contact me through my contact form for information on how to get on a waitlist. My payment information is not public on my website to ensure that I am only receiving deposits from families I have corresponded with.
FULL PAYMENT:
I ask that the final payment for your furbaby be paid by the time your furbaby is 7 weeks old if you are paying the remaining balance via Venmo, Cashapp, Zelle and PayPal. This is to ensure that all payments are successfully made into our bank account prior to pick up day- If the 7 week deadline is missed Cash is also accepted upon our meeting during your furbaby’s 8th week. I do not accept any form of checks, or money orders.
If it is planned that I am holding your furbaby for your family past 8 weeks old the final payment must be made successfully via Venmo, Cashapp, Zelle and PayPal by 7 weeks of age- This is to ensure that I am not holding puppy’s past the go-home period without a finalized adoption.
DELIVERY & PICK UP:
After 8 weeks of age I begin allowing families to pick their babies up from our home in Smiths Creek, Michigan. If you are not located near our home, I offer to drive up to an hour away, no fee necessary. We also offer to hand deliver your furbaby to your home or location of choice for an additional traveling fee. This fee will be determined based on the location of our meeting.
If you are out of state and would like to fly in to pick your puppy up, we can meet you at the Detroit Metro airport where you and your furbaby can fly home together in cabin. You will be responsible for scheduling your flight, the cost of your plane ticket, and your puppies soft travel carrier. F1b minis can fly in cabin anytime without issue. If you are planning to fly in cabin with a standard furbaby, this must take place between 8-9 weeks of age, as standards quickly surpass the in cabin height restrictions. If your family is out of state and flying is not an option I can recommend a few reputable flight nanny service companies that offer to accompany your puppy to your nearest major airport for a travel fee.
EXTENDED BOARDING:
We are happy to keep our furbabies in our home until their furever family is prepared to have them officially join the family. If you are unable to pick your puppy up before 9 weeks there will be a fee of $20 per day. If your puppy requires additional vaccinations during his or her extended time with me you will be responsible for those fees as well.
Occasionally I will accept the request to work with puppies on additional training after 8 weeks of age- price is to be determined based off of the specific requests.
GUARANTEE:
All puppies come with a Spay Neuter Contract. I require that Doodles-n-Company families send proof of procedure when it is completed. Each Doodles-n-Company puppy will come home with a signed 2 year health guarantee, and life time support from me. I will always be available for advice, and of course looking forward to pupdates.
